ABSTRACT. – The Efficacy of Employing GIS Technology in drawing up the Regional Development Strategies. Case Study: Centre Regional Development Agency. As a spatial data management system, GIS becomes more and more used in regional development studies and especially in planning, setting up and implementing the regional strategies in each of the eight Romanian development regions with a focus on GIS mapping. This study aims at highlighting the importance and the efficacy of employing GIS in understanding the spatial pattern of the regional development and in planning future actions for regional development by considering the case of one development region in Romania – Centre development region.
