The study of wood landscapes modification’s dynamic in Bacovat basin from 1880 till present with help of GIS technologies

ABSTRACT. – “The study of wood landscapes modification’s dynamic in Bacovat basin from 1880 till present with help of GIS technologies”. Informational System that allowed dynamical estimating of Bacovat River basin’s wood landscapes was elaborated on the basis of topographical maps released in the period of 1880-1985 and satellite images “Landsat” of 2001. This region containing scientific reservation “Codry” is one of the most valuable protected areas in republic of Moldova. Calculations show substantial fragmentation of wood bodies in referred period and its number growing from 5 in 1880 to 31 in 2001, and in the same time, its wooded area diminishing by nearly 11,3%.
